Oxford City Local Plan
17th December 2018
DEADLINE EXTENDED
Consultation now runs until 4pm, Friday 28th December
Oxford City is finally bringing forward its Local Plan for consultation and getting this right is also critical for the surrounding countryside. In our view, there’s more to be done to build the houses we need within the City.
What is the Oxford City Local Plan?
Do you care what Oxford City and its surroundings will look and feel like in 20 years time?
The Oxford City Local Plan 2036 sets out proposals for the level, type and location of development in the area for the next 20 years, including houses, jobs, transport and other infrastructure.
This is the last chance for you to have your say before the Plan is submitted to the Planning Inspectorate for consideration.
How to respond
See all the papers & how to respond: https://www.oxford.gov.uk/localplan
Unlike other pubic consultations, this is not just about your overall views but specifically whether the document meets the ‘tests of soundness’ set out in national planning policy. You can read more about this on our website here.
Any comments received will be sent to the Planning Inspectorate who will consider them during the Examination in Public that is expected to take place in late 2019.
NB If there is any chance that you might want to speak at the public hearings, you must respond to this consultation. Only respondents are eligible to seek a place.
CPRE Oxfordshire’s views
We believe that Oxford City could meet most, if not all, of its current housing need by releasing land currently held back for employment and building at a density appropriate for city living. This would not only lead to more, lower cost housing within the City boundaries but also reduce traffic impacts and pressure on the surrounding countryside.
You can see our response to the earlier ‘Preferred Options’ consultation here.
CPRE Oxfordshire’s full response to this latest consultation can be found as an attached documents below, as a combined document as as individual responses.
