Croudace Homes have applied for planning permission for almost 500 new homes on farmland along the Shillingford Road north of Wallingford.
CPRE Oxfordshire strongly oppose this application and urge our members to respond and comment.
The deadline is 13th Dec. Here’s the link.
Comments to consider making ( in your own words ideally), include:
- This site has been assessed and rejected by BOTH the agreed Joint South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse Local Plan and Wallingford Neighbourhood Plan.
- There will be a loss of valuable agricultural land and an impact on wildlife and biodiversity.
- This application would have an adverse impact on the rural setting of the North Wessex Downs AONB
- It will add to existing traffic congestion on approaches to Wallingford and Shillingford
- There is currently overloaded sewage works in the area and Wallingford’s bathing water status is poor. This will all be exacerbated
- Overcrowding in local schools, forcing children to travel to Didcot or other places for their education (and knock-on impacts on traffic congestion)
- Granting this application would set a precedent for further development on farmland bordering Wantage Road, , with the possibility of up to 1,500, where Wallingford has already exceeded its required housing requirement.
