New Botley West Solar Consultation

Solar Array

18th June 2024

The developers behind the massive Botley West industrial solar proposal have launched a new ‘targeted’ consultation, running until Sunday 28 July.

The overall proposed landtake is huge, covering more than 1,000 hectares of land in Cherwell, West Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse, largely within the Oxford Green Belt. The consultation outlines a range of changes to the project boundaries, either adding in land or taking it out of consideration.

Despite all the feedback from local communities about areas of land unsuitable for this development, at first glance it looks like the proposed changes are fairly minor.

However, they could have considerable cumulative impact on the Public Rights of Way Network including:

  • Dornford Lane – an ancient green lane and drovers’ road
  • The Oxford Green Belt Way
  • The Thames Path.

We’ll be looking into this in more detail over coming weeks and will post our consultation response here in due course.
